About ECF

Founded in 1966, the El Cerrito Fellowship evolved from a single weekly meeting to a full schedule of meetings geared towards people from all walks of life.

A loving landlady welcomed the fellowship with open arms and kept the rent to a very reasonable $500 for several years.

The El Cerrito Fellowship survived a fire in the 1970’s and members held home meetings and meetings in temporary locations while they helped repair the building. In the 90’s we moved down the street on San Pablo to a new home. In the 2008, we moved up San Pablo to the Richmond/El Cerrito border to a building where we remained until 2021. During the CoVID 19 pandemic we went online to Zoom meetings where we continue to serve local, national and international alcoholics, always reaching out to the newcomer with sponsorship, literature and other outreach.

The El Cerrito Fellowship continues to grow and thrive, and has a slate of meetings and activities, including a Birthday Chip Meeting on the last Saturday of every month and yearly celebrations of our anniversaries.

The El Cerrito Fellowship has a rich history of carrying the message of recovery and has been instrumental in spawning other local fellowships. For this, ECF has earned a special place in the annals of AA.
